Dr. Kenneth Klein

Dr. Klein Dr. Kenneth Klein moved to New Bern, North Carolina in 1993 to open his private practice in dermatology. He established a solid patient base and moved into his new building in 1998. Dr. Klein graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana; has a medical degree (MD) from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio; and a Ph.D. in developmental biology/teratology from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Klein subsequently completed a three year residency in the Department of Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He acquired additional training and experience in laser medicine, laser surgery, and cutaneous surgery in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Dr. Klein also completed a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at Duke University Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Klein maintains his certification with The American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Mavropoulos

Dr. Mavropoulos Dr. Mavropoulos currently resides in Durham, North Carolina and is a part-time Mohs surgeon for our practice. Dr. Mavropoulos, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D., graduated from the University of Chicago, has a master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and both medical and doctoral degrees from Duke University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed a residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Mavropoulos expanded his training with an intensive one year fellowship in procedural dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Erin McGillicuddy Hurd, FNP-C

Erin McGillicuddy Hurd Mrs. Hurd graduated from the Wake Forest University with a BA in Communication, East Carolina University with a BS in Nursing and University of North Carolina with a MS in Nursing/Family Nurse Practioner. She worked as a Staff Nurse II at Vidant Medical Center for 5 years before becoming a family nurse practioner. Mrs. Hurd also works in the Dermatology Clinic at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine.
